We hope you come back regularly to catch up with our news!
I was born into a doggy household and my parents were already entrenched into the showing scene, primarily with Dobermanns. My dad had whippets when he was a teenager although they were racing Whippets. My mum bought him a show Whippet when I was still a baby and it was her daughter that I started to learn to handle with. My parents were both very good handlers so I had lots of help as I started on my handling career. I was just 7 when mum entered me into my first competition and couldn;t quite understand why she was so excited when I took third place, I just knew that I wanted to do it again and so the story began. I continued to handler regularly at the local open shows and mum also enetered me in the breed classes so that I could gain more experience. I was lucky enough to be quite successful on a regular basis, almost right from the start. At my first Richmond Semi-finals in 1999 I showed a Dobermann and was delighted to get 3rd, the following year this time with a Whippet, I managed to win first and qualify for the finals for the first of the 3 occasions that I have qualified for this competition. A year later I was first again with a Dobermann and then,, having been placed in the semi's every year but twice I qualified again in my final Richmond Competition this year (2008). As well as JHA competitions I have been involved with YKC competetions too and have regularly competed at Crufts in the numerous classes that take place. In 2006 I won the YKC National Hanlder of the Year - I was handling a friends Whippet at the time as my own bitch had puppies. In 2008 I was first placed in YKC Handling 12-16 Hounds with my own Whippet Supeta's Loverlee. As I said before my mum has always entered me in the breed competitions too and over the last year I have taken over the showing of the Whippets leaving my parents to concentrate on the Dobes. My current bitch Peppa (ChSupeta's Bootilicious Babe ShCM has been particularly successful and has 7CC's 4 with BOB & 2 R.C.C's. She was Whippet Stars 'Puppy of the Year' 2007 and won her champion title in 2009. I also use Peppa in the handling and YKC Stakes and although I am too old now for J.H.A competitions I will continue to compete in the YKC Adult Handling Classes whenever I can.
